VIPER HISTORY
Est. 2012
The Summit City Vipers were founded in 2012 and started from mostly Saint Joe Little League 10U players. The main decision to form this team was that Saint Joe decided to prohibit 10-year old’s from moving up to majors. Instead of suffering through another year of minor league little league baseball, the Summit City Vipers were formed. Founder Evan Wood was joined by Brian Finley, Andy Stauffer, and Deron Swanson as the first coaching staff. Over the years several other coaches joined including Jake Stevens in 2013, where he stayed as the pitching coach. He is now the assistant coach of the 9U Vipers in 2021. In 2015, the second Viper team was formed and there are now 12U and 10U Viper teams. In the fall of 2016, the original Viper team merged with players from two other local teams, the Wallen Jackers and New Haven Bulldogs to form Legends Baseball. This team stayed together through the summer of 2020 and they are all now graduating seniors in 2021. During this merger Matt Brown and Jeff Ummel joined the coaching staff which stayed together until a final summer in 2020. Today the Summit City Vipers have teams at every age group from 9 to 14. Our mission is to provide top level baseball instruction and competition at the lowest cost possible. The Vipers have won countless tournaments over the years at all levels with the 9U 2020 team setting the bar high winning 8 out of 9 tournaments entered.
